Risk Adjustment Coding can be a little daunting at first, but it is a necessary topic to understand as the healthcare industry continues to change a progress. This course has been created to give coders an understanding of the basics so that they can not only be more informed, but to also then decide if they want to pursue a career in Risk Adjustment Coding. There are more and more Risk Adjustment Coding opportunities in the field and it is the perfect opportunity to continue your career and increase your yearly salary by $10,000 on average.

Patient health and disease staging is imperative to patient care. Often times, providers submit only the diagnoses that support the level of service for a specific date of service. While those submissions can support billing, often times there are diagnoses that are captured within documentation, but not reported in billing. This is where Risk Adjustment policies, and HCC Coding come into play. Risk Adjustment aims to capture the whole story of a patient’s health status and uses this whole story to predict future costs and assess the disease burden of groups of patients who are enrolled in Medicare HMOs. The Risk Adjustment data and information is widespread in use and plays an important role in disease management and payment policies to reimburse providers for their work with at-risk and sickly populations.

The training format is an online self paced CEU course. You will receive your official CEU certificate upon completion of the course and CEU exam.
